Who Are We?  

The Belfast Marine Institute's (BMI) initiative is called the Floating Classroom and is designed to get students out, in, around, on and under the waters of Penobscot Bay and Waldo County, to basically introduce them to the marine world. It is an example of collaboration and innovation, developing cross- curricular pathways to introduce, inspire and engage students with marine commercial, career and education opportunities. The earned BMI endorsement puts students at the center of their educational experience while developing meaningful connections to the community and having fun in the process.
